Allah be pleased with him, married twice, but all his male children had died in their infancy. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, peace be on him, was keenly anxious that he should marry a third time. In his letter of 23 January 1889, he suggested to marry Sughra Begum daughter of late Sufi Ahmad Jan. Maulawi Nur-ud-Din accepted the proposal and formal ceremony was performed in February and wedding took place in March 1889. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad also participated in the marriage. Further, the unprecedented floods in Hyderabad, India and Paris, France caused a wave of fear and panic. He wrote to Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih I (may Allah be pleased with him) that he met two American ladies who were returning from a visit to Spain, Morocco, Egypt and Palestine. They inquired him about Islam and the Holy Quran, and he responded to them. \u201cWhat will be given in the Paradise?\u201d In response, he explained the philosophy of paradise according to the Ahmadiyya viewpoint. They were astonished and said that their guide in Egypt had told them that all he would get were twelve wives. He also explained the arrangement of the Holy Quran and on their request for help in understanding Islam better, obtained their addresses and mailed the copies of the Teachings of Islam to them later. He gained a following of thousands of converts. A leader of the temple was murdered and Drew Ali was arrested and jailed. He died in 1929 soon after the release from jail. He was 43 years old at that time. He remained alive for only sixteen years after the pronouncement of prophethood.
